{"id":365,"date":"2017-08-07T06:25:16","date_gmt":"2017-08-07T06:25:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/172.104.63.238\/?page_id=365"},"modified":"2020-11-20T15:33:45","modified_gmt":"2020-11-20T04:33:45","slug":"volunteering-at-the-darebin-rsl","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/darebinrsl.com.au\/?page_id=365","title":{"rendered":"VOLUNTEERING AT THE DAREBIN RSL"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thankyou for your interest in volunteering with the Darebin RSL.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We welcome new people to join our dedicated volunteer team<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Fundraising and Appeals<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Volunteer roles at Darebin RSL mainly centre on fundraising through selling badges just before ANZAC DAY and selling poppies prior to REMEMBRANCE DAY.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sellers generally follow a roster and \u201cset up shop\u201d at larger shopping centres, hardware stores etc. Our Appeals Officer may also require assistance to assemble, pack and deliver merchandise trays to local schools and businesses before, and then collect the proceeds and stock balances directly after our Appeals. We also need assistance to sell raffle tickets at the Club on Friday and Saturday Nights.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Veteran Support<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Veteran Support volunteers provide well-being support to veterans and their families and may undertake a number of roles including:-<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hospital &amp; Home Visitation<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Veteran Transport<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Welfare Officers<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pensions Officers<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Other Veterans Support Activities<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Most veteran support roles require volunteers to undergo a National Police Check for Aged Care. Some Veterans Support roles such as Pensions Officers and Welfare Officers also require volunteers to undergo specialized accredited training to enable them to undertake their duties. At Darebin RSL, we fully support interested volunteers to become accredited.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Commemoration and Memorabilia<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For ANZAC DAY and REMEMBRANCE DAY our Volunteers may be called on to assist at our Annual Commemoration Services and Darebin RSL has an extremely popular ANZAC Ceremony designed just for local Primary, Secondary and Special schools as we see educating younger generations as a vital task in supporting our Community.
