The Returned and Services League has some 1500 Sub-Branches throughout Australia and with a membership of 350,000, is one of the largest service and ex-service associations in Australia. Currently there are 270 RSL’s in Victoria. We offer memberships to anyone over the age of 18 years.<\/p>\n

The RSL offers three main forms of RSL membership:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Service<\/em> (for those who have served in the Armed Forces)
Affiliate<\/em> (for those related to people eligible for Service Membership)
Social<\/em> (Same benefits as Service and Affiliate members, but the right to vote on RSL matters does not apply)<\/p>\n

What does it Cost?<\/h2>\n

Membership cost is $10 annually for Social, Affiliate and Service memberships. We also offer a Triennial membership (Three years) for $25. Membership forms are available from Reception. Ask one\u00a0 of our friendly staff about joining today!!<\/p>\n


SOCIAL\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n

Any person is eligible to be a Social Member if he or she is not eligible to be a Service or Affiliate Member of the League is between the ages of eighteen [18] years or older. Social membership also gives members reciprocal rights in Victoria.<\/p>\n

A Social Member is not entitled to vote on any matter other than in respect of the election of a Social Member\u00a0to the Committee of the Sub-Branch.<\/p>\n

A Social Member on the Committee of a Sub-Branch may vote only on matters relating to the operation of the Sub-Branch Facilities available to Social Members of the Sub-Branch.<\/p>\n

SERVICE<\/h2>\n

Service membership of the RSL is for anyone who is currently serving or has\u00a0served\u00a0in the ADF or any Australian allied armed forces.<\/p>\n

Service Membership Criteria\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

    \n
  • Must be 18 years of age or over<\/li>\n
  • Has served in any Australian Defence Force in any conflict<\/li>\n
  • Has served not less than 6 months in the regular or reserve Australian Defence\u00a0Force<\/li>\n
  • Has completed a period of National Service in the Australian Defence Force<\/li>\n
  • Has served in the Defence Forces of any country that is part of the Commonwealth<\/li>\n
  • Has served in the Defence Forces of the New Zealand or the United State of America<\/li>\n
  • Is an Australian citizen and has served in the Defence Force of any country allied\u00a0to Australia<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    What are the Benefits of Service Membership?<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

      \n
    • Full voting rights within your main Sub-Branch<\/li>\n
    • The ability to stand for any elected position within the RSL in Victoria, from a Sub-Branch\u00a0committee to State President<\/li>\n
    • Full access to members facilities and prices at over 80 licensed RSL venues throughout\u00a0Victoria<\/li>\n
    • The right to wear the time-honoured RSL badge<\/li>\n
    • The opportunity to continue to enjoy the spirit of comradeship experienced during your\u00a0service in the armed forces with other serving or ex-defence force members<\/li>\n
    • A quarterly journal through which you can keep in touch with issues relevant to League members<\/li>\n
    • Discounts on a wide range of electrical appliances and white goods [courtesy Clive Peters stores]<\/li>\n
    • The opportunity to participate in a number of RSL sporting and social activities<\/li>\n
    • The opportunity to continue to enjoy the spirit of comradeship<\/li>\n
    • The opportunity to participate in a number of sporting or social activities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      AFFILIATE<\/h2>\n

      No person who is eligible for a Service Membership of the League shall be\u00a0admitted as\u00a0an Affiliate Member.<\/p>\n

      Any eligible persons, who may be elected as Affiliate Members, are those\u00a0who comply\u00a0with the following:<\/p>\n

        \n
      • Is eighteen [18] years of age or older<\/li>\n
      • Any person who is any relative of a League member, or of a person who at\u00a0the time of his\u00a0death was eligible to be a League member such as parent,\u00a0grandparent, spouse, brother,\u00a0sister, child, grandchild,\u00a0stepchild, son-in-law,\u00a0daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law,\u00a0cousin or nephew<\/li>\n
      • Any person who has been awarded the certificate Merit, National or\u00a0State<\/li>\n
      • Certificate for giving valuable service to the League<\/li>\n
      • Any person who is or has been a member, for at least six months, of one of\u00a0the following: –\n
          \n
        • A State or Federal Police Force<\/li>\n
        • An Ambulance Service or Brigade<\/li>\n
        • A Fire Brigade or Fire Authority<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
        • An Affiliate Member shall carry out the Objects of the League in the same\u00a0manner as a\u00a0Service Member<\/li>\n
        • Affiliate Members have a separate badge to the League<\/li>\n
        • Affiliate Members may not be elected to the positions of President or Vice\u00a0President,\u00a0but may\u00a0be elected\u00a0to be a Secretary, Treasurer or Committeeman on the Committee<\/li>\n
        • An Affiliate may speak and vote on any matters relating to the Sub-Branch\u00a0except remits for the\u00a0State Conference<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          What are the benefits of Affiliate Membership?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

            \n
          • Receipt of a journal (Mufti), through which you can keep in touch with issues & events relevant\u00a0\u00a0to the RSL<\/li>\n
          • The opportunity to share in the spirit of comradeship common to those who served in the Armed Forces<\/li>\n
          • The ability to serve on Sub-Branch committees<\/li>\n
          • The opportunity to participate in a range of RSL sporting and social activities<\/li>\n
          • The right to vote on most matters pertaining to the Sub-Branch of which you are a member<\/li>\n
          • Leadership opportunities \u2013 the League needs people who can accept the responsibility and the\u00a0challenge of\u00a0undertaking\u00a0a leadership role in a variety of areas, including welfare memorabilia,\u00a0recruiting, fund raising, etc.<\/li>\n
          • Many Affiliate Members currently serve as Sub-Branch Secretaries or Treasurers<\/li>\n
          • Full access to members\u2019 facilities and prices at over 100 licensed RSL venues throughout Victoria<\/li>\n
          • The opportunity to make a difference in the care and remembrance of those who have and continue\u00a0to serve us in\u00a0both war and peace<\/li>\n
          • The right to wear the RSL Affiliate badge. This is issued upon approval of membership<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n
